FIRST BAPTIST MUSIC ACADEMY
Music is a large part of the BCS academic program. Choral music is required for all students, kindergarten to eighth grade. Elementary orchestra is offered to students as young as third grade, depending on skill. Elementary band is offered beginning at fifth grade. Junior high students are required to take choir, and band and orchestra are electives. The music pastor of First Baptist Church of Troy is the head of the music department and teaches high school band and choir. High school orchestra meets once a week and is an elective; requisite skill is required for participation in this program.

Kindermusik
FBMA uses the Kindermusik program to educate younger children. Kindermusik offers a creative music environment for children from birth to age 7.
With this program, your child will learn how to sing properly, play a variety of instruments, listen to quality music, and participate in games that aid in learning. Fun activities have a specific developmental goal designed for each age. Because of the small size of Kindermusik classes (maximum 10-12 children), your child will receive much more individual attention than in a regular music class or choir.

ART
The Elementary Art Program seeks to instill in each student a sound biblical attitude toward art evaluation and production.
This program teaches the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design, as well as a basic survey of art history. Each student is provided the maximum opportunity to explore a variety of art media and techniques such as, drawing, painting, illustration, collage, printmaking, sculpture, and much more, and may participate in a state art competition.
SPEECH
Believing that “a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver” (Prov. 25:11), our secondary students are given the opportunity to develop their speaking abilities in an academic class. All secondary students are able to participate in various state and national competitions throughout the year.
